Podcast Episode: Booked All Night

Hey friends! My latest podcast appearance just went live this morning, so I wanted to quickly share it with everyone. Booked All Night is a fantastic YA book blog that I love, and I’ve been working with them for quite a few weeks now. I posted both a guest post and an excerpt of Chasing Fae with them as part of my book launch blog tour. Jess, Maggie, and Dan were a great trio of hosts who had me laughing and sharing plenty of stories about the creation of Chasing Fae and my plans for book 2. I hope you’ll take a listen!

New update for Ashes and Arrows! The majority of the book is off to the copyeditor, and some has already come back. Milan and I have started discussion on the cover, and I'm hoping to start working up my marketing plan soon. In the meantime, I wanted to share with you the newest addition to the series and its lore: the Fablyth maps! My fiance, Daniel Sage, created these using Inkarnate (the same software I used for the Chasing Fae Trilogy maps), and I think they turned out fantastic. The large map is the original, and then I cut individual images for the nine kingdoms so people could see each section up close. There are so many fantastic little details. I hope you like them! Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of sitting down with @melindakucsera28 and talking about the Chasing Fae Trilogy, reading the first chapter of Chasing Fae, and doing a deep dive into the world of the Three Realms on her podcast., Epic Fantasy Adventures, Books, Lore & More. Hey authors, writers, and readers, I need some help. I'm revising my Robin Hood retelling, Ashes and Arrows, and I'm finding that while the plot is really strong, the fantasy elements are a bit lacking. While this story isn't the most magical of the planned series, I still want to make sure I'm adhering to the genre. Any advice?

Happy holidays, readers! I hope you all have been having a fantastic December. I know I have been. I want to share some BIG personal news. On Christmas Eve, Daniel Sage, my partner of nearly eight years asked me to marry him! We have been together since high school, and I have loved him forever. We were at the Grand Floridian in Disney World while visiting my mom and sister for the holidays, and we were headed to brunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe. The family stopped in the lobby to take some pictures by the giant Christmas tree, and before I knew it, he was down on one knee. Turns out he had planned this with the majority of my family and nearly all of his. I couldn't have asked for anything more magical than that. The ring is a white gold and tanzanite ring. (Tanzanite is this beautiful gemstone that alternates between blueish and purplish in different lights.) We picked it out together over two years ago now when I was a senior in college. We went shopping together in Richmond, VA after visiting my grandfather there; we only ever planned to try some rings on. But when I put this one on, Daniel and I both looked at each other and had that cinematic moment where we just knew it was the one. Daniel had been saving money for a very long time, and we bought it on the spot. I'm so happy that I finally get to wear it. And now, we have a wedding to plan!

This weekend, I had the extreme fortune to see the advance screening of the first two episodes of the Percy Jackson TV series! I got in line an hour and ten minutes prior to showtime, and I was the third to last person to make it into the showing. The Percy Jackson series has been one of my favorites since I was a kid, and Rick Riordan is definitely my author idol. I'm going to keep my following opinions as spoiler-free as possible, quickly breaking down my thoughts. I'm gonna put headings on each section in big capital letters so you can avoid them if you want to.
