My inspiration for the House of Light came from Disney’s Tangled and the kingdom of Corona. I enjoy the brightness and animated atmosphere and wanted to translate that into this House. Due to an abundance of fertile farmland, this community is mainly based in farming villages with one large market town as pictured above.

The House of Fire feels like what you would imagine a medieval kingdom that’s heavily reliant on masonry and blacksmithing. The architecture is heavily reliant on stonework; the palace is constructed entirely from stone. The towns contain open air markets where multiple forgers line the covered areas. The streets are fairly crowded between the hordes of people and black horses pulling items up and down the streets. The House of Fire also boasts a very well trained full-time army, ready for a fight whenever one might begin.
Flag: A red flag with a black border and red-orange flames in the center.

Royal Family: High Lord Thomas Orion Halden, High Lady Samantha Louise Halden (Boron), Lord Kay Rory Halden, Lord Hayden Alexander Halden, Lady Ariel Elizabeth Halden
The House of the Darkness is a very curious House. The area is rich in population, magic and incredibly modern, but very weak in resources. They are obsessed with time and moving forward, hence the modernity. The leaders of the House of Darkness recognize the importance that the Middle Realm has placed on technology and manage to blend both technology and magic in a way that no other House has accomplished. They have a technological advantage, but their lack of fertile farmland has caused them to become incredibly dependent on other Houses to feed their staggering populace.

Royal Family: High Lord Carron Hepti Infernos, High Lady Katherine Anna Infernos (Finite), Lord Faolan Alon Infernos, Lady Cary Elipse
The House of the Moon is tiny, but one of the richest kingdoms twofold. One, due to proximity to both a precious stone and a diamond mine, and two, because of its rich supply of magic. Its proximity to the moon creates some of the most powerful magical items, charms, and spells that can be cast during moontime. A very mystical land to unravel.
Flag: A light purple flag with a silver border and a silver full moon in the center with a crescent moon outlined in shadow against it.
Lay of the Land: A mountain lorddom: one town, five villages.
The House of Earth reminds me of a series of quaint medieval villages. Although the lorddom is very tiny, it manages to generate most of the food in the Upper Realm. The kingdom is very humble, mostly agriculturally driven. The villages provide for themselves and no more; extravagance is not really a concept in this area. The largest exporter of any of the Twelve Houses.
Flag: A brown flag with a green border and a tiny sapling in the center.
Lay of the Land: A valley lorddom: seven villages, lots of farming country.
Potency of Magic: 4/10
Main Exports: Grain, animal products, vegetables, nuts
Royal Family: High Lord Adam Davis Jameson, High Lady Haley Katherine Jameson (Winson), Lord Demetrius Paul Jameson
The House of Water reminds me of the kingdom from The Little Mermaid, an ocean lorddom with a quaint charm. The main town is filled with little side streets with hand blown glass shops and little local jewelry stores. It’s a very locally invested area; a lot of money gets put back into promoting local trade and artistry. Being situated on the ocean, the House of Water hosts the largest harbor complete with grand ships of all kinds, both personal and economic.
Flag: A blue flag with a tealy green border and a wave pattern across the entire flag.
Lay of the Land: A coastal lorddom: one town, ten villages.
Potency of Magic: 5/10
Main Exports: Glass, clothing, jewelry, fish.
Royal Family: High Lord Dylan Christian Triton, High Lady Cordelia Marie Triton (Pan), Lord Tristan Eric Triton, Lady Michelle Pride Triton
The House of the Day is a beautiful valley kingdom with the most quaint fairy tale charm. The villages have traditional thatched roof houses with central wells. The town that Grace travels into on her first journey into the Upper Realm has one of the largest outdoor markets in all of the 12 Houses. The wooden stalls are covered in brightly colored cloth and house a variety of products. Merchants travel from all over the Upper Realm and Middle Realm representation to trade. An abundance of food, colorful clothes, magical items, protective charms, and a small selection of weaponry can be found up and down a large semi circle in the middle of the square.
Flag: A sky blue flag with a yellow border and a white daisy in the center.
Lay of the Land: A valley lorddom: two towns, eight villages.
Potency of Magic: 6/10
Main Exports: Magic amulets, clothing, fruits
Royal Family: High Lord Michael Helios Gerald, High Lady Helen Marie Gerald (Rouge), Lord Jason Barry Gerald, Lady Emily Ann Gerald
The House of the Sun is one of the smaller lorddoms of the Upper Realm with a small population situated along the western side of the border. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in magical potency and general grandeur. The main town houses a spectacular palace with sweeping gardens surrounding it. Most of the House of the Sun’s presence in Chasing Fae is focused in on the palace and its interior.
Flag: An orange flag with gold trim and a lighter orange sun in the center.
Lay of the Land: A valley lorddom: one town, eight villages.
Potency of Magic: 7/10
Main Exports: Magical charms/items, fruits, vegetables
Royal Family: High Lord Nicholas Adrian Çaelic, Sr., High Lady Caroline Rose Çaelic (Matthais), Lord Nicholas Adrian Çaelic, Jr., and a younger Lord no longer in the royal picture
The House of Wind is rich in magic and resources. It is the only House with a matriarchy; many women become incredibly powerful in this area because of its unique structure. The palace reminds me of a Greek temple, an open air space well suited for magical casting. The House of Wind is the only location where magic can constantly be seen, represented by streaks of color. This is due to an intense presence of elemental magic in the air.
Flag: A light silver background with a dark silver border and light glittery swirls of wind gusts.
Lay of the Land: A mountain lorddom: one town, six villages.
Potency of Magic: 9/10
Main Exports: Rice, tea, furs, fruits
Royal Family: High Lady Morgana Andrea Airian, Lady Aira Solana Airian
The House of the Evening is one of the most fascinating places and my favorite of all twelve Houses. This place is known for its amazing music, good wine, and the most wonderful festivals in the realm. Hunters and traders ride up and down the mountainside in search of deer, wild horses, and the mighty wolves that roam the region. At night, the whole lorddom is lit up by fairy light: sometimes soft and sometimes bright. It’s most certainly the place to be for a good time.
Flag: A light purple flack with a dark purple border and a swirling glass orb with purple and blue smoke with a white smoke trail coming from behind it in the center.
Lay of the Land: a mountain/river lorddom: three towns, nine villages.
Potency of Magic: 8/10
Main Exports: Precious stones, wine, musical instruments, furs
Royal Family: High Lord Alexander Hesperos Faelie, High Lady Elise Camryn Faelie (Gaerach), Lord Neil Sonra Faelie, Lady Analise Marie Faelie
